Police have arrested Svitlana Silva, a 46-year-old woman who allegedly robbed high-stakes poker pro Antonio Esfandiari in Las Vegas in July.
Silva, a former poker dealer, is accused of stealing up to $ 1 million in cash, chips, jewelry and other valuables belonging to Esfandiari and his father Bejan, and using the funds to gamble. According to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Silva had previously been in a relationship with Bejan, and had knowledge of various access codes, including their combination to a safe.
The loot totaled $ 150,000 in cash, about $ 500,000 in casino chips visit Temanpoker, designer watches, and even Esfandiari’s Big One For One Drop bracelet, which he won together with $ 18.3 million at the 2012 World Series of Poker.
Silva was seen gambling in the Bellagio poker room and reportedly playing high-stakes private games before he was arrested in Aria on August 23. Silva pleaded not guilty, but police found several casino chips worth $ 25,000 in his possession during his arrest and even told police he had an extra chip in his car.
Silva was admitted to the Clark County Detention Center on charges of robbery and possession of stolen property. He has been released from prison, and a court case is scheduled for October.
Esfandiari is one of the most popular poker players, and has been the most winning tournament player of all time.
